PowerCubes: Scalable energy storage for large-scale photovoltaic plants

Both systems operate with the same LFP cell technology, the same liquid cooling and the same grid connection standards. They differ in power output, footprint and expansion stage – not in the technology behind them. By connecting to the spot market, you shift the feed-in time and increase the economic efficiency of your system.

Why the PowerCube is worth it

In most projects we combine several revenue streams. Which combination makes sense depends on the load profile, grid connection and marketing strategy.

Grid connection from a single source

We develop and manufacture the matching transformer station ourselves, tailored to the PowerCube. We also plan the medium-voltage connection and protection concept at the same time!

increase self-consumption from PV

Surplus energy from the PV system is stored and used in the evening, rather than being fed into the grid at low prices.

spot market and direct marketing

Thanks to the smart connection to the spot market, charging takes place when prices are low and discharging during high-price hours – the time of feed-in can be freely shifted.

Provide balancing energy

The systems are designed for primary and secondary frequency modulation and comply with the grid connection standards VDE-AR-N 4110 and 4120 as well as FGW TR8.

buffer charging infrastructure

High-power charging points can also be operated on weak grid connections because the storage system absorbs the simultaneity peaks of the charging processes.

emergency power supply and black start

All systems are capable of black start and are equipped with earth fault monitoring, reverse polarity protection and surge protection.

Standards, certifications & warranty

Tested to current IEC and VDE standards

Both systems comply with the relevant standards for safety, grid connection and efficiency. The following details apply equally to the BESS PowerCube 418 and the BESS PowerCube 836.

The advantages of the PowerCube 836 compared to the PowerCube 418

Unlike the compact PowerCube 418, the PowerCube 836 doubles your storage capacity to 836 kWh – and does so on virtually the same footprint. This extremely high energy density makes the high-performance battery storage system the first choice for retrofit projects in existing solar parks as well as for the efficient expansion of industrial energy infrastructures.

Design for your project

Send us your load profile or annual consumption, your grid connection capacity and the available area. We will check which size is suitable and calculate the potential revenue from peak shaving, self-consumption and the spot market for you.

In addition to our high-performance battery storage systems such as the PowerCube, Faber E-Tec GmbH plans and implements tailor-made Transformer stations and Compact stations. These are tailored precisely to the performance data, the inverters and the requirements of the respective BESS class.

Turnkey BESS integration: Your EPC partner for storage projects

BESS EPC Complete solutions from a single source

Procuring an industrial battery storage system is only the beginning. As an experienced EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) provider, Faber E-Tec GmbH delivers the entire infrastructure for the BESS PowerCubes turnkey from a single source. We take care of the complete electrotechnical BESS planning, the procurement and coordination of all components, and the final on-site installation for you. In this way, we minimise interface risks during system integration and guarantee that your energy storage project is connected to the grid smoothly, on schedule, and in compliance with standards.

Turnkey battery storage system with short installation time

Battery modules, inverter, thermal management and fire suppression system are already integrated and wired within the enclosure. On-site work is limited to the foundation, cable connection and commissioning – rather than the assembly of a storage system from individual components. This significantly shortens construction time compared to custom-configured systems and makes the schedule predictable. If higher power requirements arise, we install multiple units in parallel instead of redesigning the project from scratch.

Industrial-grade and built for outdoor installation: −40 to +60 °C

The BESS PowerCube is specially designed for demanding environmental conditions and direct outdoor installation. The robust system protection rating of IP55 (inverter/PCS up to IP66) and an extremely wide temperature range from -40 to +60 °C guarantee reliable outdoor operation. Intelligent, active liquid cooling and a multi-stage, NFPA-compliant fire protection concept safeguard your storage project and investment over the long term.

EPC under one roof: fewer interfaces, predictable schedules

As an EPC partner, we handle the engineering, procurement and construction of the BESS PowerCube, operating in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001. The system components are certified to IEC 62109-1/2, IEC 62477-1 and IEC 61000-6-2/4. On request, we can supply the appropriate medium-voltage solution and transformer substation from our own production – meaning that the most critical interface in the project, the one between the storage system and the grid connection point, lies within a single scope of responsibility.

24/7 Remote Monitoring

Through the integrated, state-of-the-art energy management system (EMS), the PowerCube 836 is monitored 24/7 in real time. All relevant BESS operating data, the current state of charge and important system messages are available to you at any time via remote access. This enables predictive maintenance and the economically optimal control of your industrial battery energy storage system.

A contact person

At Faber E-Tec, the same project manager accompanies you throughout the entire duration of your storage project: feasibility analysis and economic forecast, technical design, approval documentation, construction and grid connection in accordance with VDE-AR-N 4110. You do not coordinate interfaces between multiple suppliers, but have a single point of contact – with someone who knows your project.

What planners and operators ask most frequently

BESS FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

The decisive factor is the required power at the grid connection point. The PowerCube 418 delivers 200 kW at 418 kWh and suits commercial and industrial load profiles – such as for peak shaving or increasing self-consumption of PV energy. The PowerCube 836 delivers 418 kW at 836 kWh and is designed for utility-scale projects, stand-alone storage systems and co-location alongside solar or wind farms. Where space is limited, the footprint is also relevant: 1.96 m² compared to 4.39 m² per cube.

Yes. Both sizes are installed in parallel multiple times in practice to achieve higher power and capacity classes. We create the specific design, including medium-voltage connection, transformer station and protection concept, on a project-specific basis.

The LFP cells are rated for 10,000 full cycles down to a residual capacity of 80 %. We provide a 10-year warranty or 10,000 cycles on the battery modules, and a standard 5-year warranty on the PCS. The charge and discharge efficiency is ≥ 95 % at 0.5 C.
