The Transfer station is the heart of your project. It is the interface between the public power grid and your system. It switches, protects, measures and ensures a safe and standards-compliant connection.
Sounds complicated? It is. Germany has 850 different Network operator, which refer to different technical connection conditions (TAB) appointed. Faber E-Tec GmbH undertakes the technical planning and grid operator approval on your behalf. Consequently, our transfer stations are always built in accordance with the technical connection conditions (TAB) of the respective grid operator.

1. Concrete body
Compact substation for easy installation
Our concrete structure is manufactured in our plant from around 10 m³ of liquid concrete and is produced as a certified compact substation. With base dimensions of 2,620 × 3,870 mm, the transformer substation can be delivered to the installation site by low-loader without the need for a special permit or night transport.
As the floor space is less than 10 m², the station does not require a building permit in any German federal state. At the site of deployment, the prefabricated concrete transformer station is placed directly into a prepared excavation pit without an additional foundation. After installation, it still projects just under two metres above the ground level.
2. Medium voltage
SF6-free switchgear technology
Our certified compact substations are equipped with the gas-insulated RM AIR SET series from Schneider Electric. Behind the doors on one of the short sides of the substation, three cable panels and a metering cubicle are available.
Current and voltage are each measured three-phase via transformers. This allows both medium-voltage loops and protection via a circuit breaker to be implemented.

The transformer connects the low-voltage to the medium-voltage side and is designed for power ratings of up to 3,150 kVA. Three-phase oil-immersed transformers with single or double winding are used.
Upon request, a version with a bio-ester mixture is also available. Alongside common voltage levels such as 400 V, 800 V, 10 kV or 20 kV, special voltages can be realised on both the high-voltage and low-voltage sides. These include, for example, 470 V or 24 kV.
4. Low voltage
Customised project solutions for the connection between station and plant
The low-voltage board of the Substation incl. transformer is designed for voltage levels between 400 and 800 volts, depending on the project requirements. Depending on the project, protective cabinets, meter cabinets, up to 16 NH3 fuse strips, circuit breakers and moulded case circuit breakers, communication technology and an uninterruptible power supply are arranged on it.
This makes the low-voltage board the central interface between the transfer station including the transformer and your system.
The ABCs of the substation
When connecting to the public electricity grid, a fundamental distinction is made between drawing power and feeding power into the grid. In addition, depending on the system design, hybrid forms and individual custom solutions are also possible.

What is a substation?
Does Faber E-Tec comply with the grid operator's specifications?
Yes. Faber E-Tec undertakes the engineering and aligns the substation with the technical connection conditions of the responsible energy supply company. The execution complies with TAB and VDE regulations and is compatible with German medium-voltage networks.
What is the compact transfer station suitable for?
The transfer station is suitable for import-only installations, export-only installations, and mixed systems. It can be used, for example, in industrial and commercial projects, photovoltaic systems, wind power projects, or charging infrastructures.
What is the difference between a transfer station and a transformer substation?
A pure transfer station is primarily responsible for the transfer, metering, switching and protection on the medium-voltage side. If a transformer is also integrated, the station can transfer electrical energy between medium and low voltage. The compact station from Faber E-Tec is available with or without a transformer, depending on the project.
Can the transfer station be individually equipped?
Yes. The design is planned on a project-specific basis. Among other things, transformer capacity, voltage levels, balancing groups and the provision of a metering cubicle can be adapted to the technical requirements of the project.
Is a measuring cell required in the transfer station?
Whether a metering cell is required depends on the connection concept and the specifications of the local electricity supply company. The compact substation from Faber E-Tec can be designed with a metering cell, without a metering cell, or with a metering cell without a transformer.
What output does the transfer and transformer substation provide?
As a compact transformer substation, transformer outputs of up to 3,150 kVA are possible. The specific output and required voltage levels are determined on the basis of the connected load and project-specific requirements.
